With geopolitical tensions in the Middle East continuing to rise and supply chains facing increasing disruptions, global crude oil and refined product inventories are being consumed at an unprecedented rate.

Data shows that since May, visible global oil inventories have been declining by approximately 8.7 million barrels per day — the fastest drawdown pace on record and nearly double the average depletion rate observed since the conflict began. This highlights the rapidly widening imbalance between global supply and demand.

At the same time, physical market liquidity continues to tighten. Oil exports passing through the Strait of Hormuz are reportedly operating at only around 5% of normal capacity, indicating that one of the world’s most critical energy transportation corridors remains heavily disrupted. As a vital chokepoint for global crude flows, continued restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz are significantly amplifying supply concerns across energy markets.

This week’s pullback in WTI crude prices remains broadly consistent with expectations for a wide-range consolidation structure.

From a short-term technical perspective, WTI continues to trade within a symmetrical triangle and rectangular consolidation pattern, suggesting that neither bulls nor bears have gained decisive control. After once again facing rejection near the key resistance area around $105.00 per barrel, prices are now drifting back toward the confluence support formed by the triangle lower boundary and rectangle base.

If this support region holds, WTI could attempt another rally toward the converging resistance zone near $105.00. This level has capped upside momentum several times over recent weeks and remains the key threshold for bulls to regain market control.

However, caution is warranted. A decisive breakdown below the current triangle and rectangle support structure would likely signal the end of the consolidation phase and potentially trigger a deeper corrective cycle. In that case, the next major downside support would likely emerge near the $87.00 region.
