因美元升值,以及对美联储12月降息的预期降温,现货黄金周一收盘大跌39.35美元,报4045.76美元/盎司。
由于美国政府历史上最长的停摆导致大量数据积压,投资者和政策制定者都在等待这些数据公布,多位美联储官员警告称,不应再次降低借贷成本。
利率互换交易显示,美联储12月降息的可能性已不足50%,而不到一个月前,市场几乎已预期降息25个基点。这令黄金前景承压,因为黄金不支付利息,通常会受益于较低的利率。

美联储副主席杰斐逊周一发表偏鹰派言论。他指出,美联储需要以“缓慢推进”的方式对待任何进一步降息,避免政策走向可能对不再能抑制通胀压力的方向。
杰斐逊在堪萨斯城的一次演讲中表示:“当前的政策立场仍带有一定限制性,但已更接近既不抑制也不刺激经济的中性水平,风险平衡的不断变化表明,在接近中性利率的过程中,我们有必要稳步推进政策调整。”
杰斐逊的观点具有潜在参考价值,因为他的立场通常与美联储主席鲍威尔高度一致。自三年前加入美联储以来,杰斐逊始终与鲍威尔保持一致投票。

圣路易斯联储主席穆萨勒姆指出,当前利率已更接近中性水平,进一步宽松的空间有限,假如美联储继续降息,可能过度刺激经济。
中信建投期货分析指出,美国政府结束停摆使得市场流动性恢复平稳,一度支撑贵金属走高,但美联储官员对12月降息态度较为谨慎,市场降息预期显著下行,亦施压贵金属,短期市场多空交织,贵金属或宽幅震荡为主。
聚焦美国经济数据
美国劳动力市场状况的首批线索将于周四浮出水面,届时美国劳工统计局将发布9月份的就业报告。与往常相比,该数据更多地反映历史数据,但有助于了解华盛顿结束为期六周的停摆后,这个世界最大经济体的状况。
墨尔本Vantage Markets策略师Hebe Chen表示:“政府停摆虽然结束了,但它造成的数据迷雾仍在笼罩市场——未来几周将公布许多我们几乎毫无把握的数据。这使得美联储的降息路径仍然十分不明朗。”
