The weak inflation data published last Thursday added weight to the arguments for a more flexible monetary policy ahead of the June meeting and even brought back the possibility of negative rates. From a chart perspective, EUR/CHF has encountered a strong horizontal resistance ceiling at the 0.9261 level, a zone where it has begun to react downward, already securing a price close below the short-term 9-period Moving Average on the 4-hour chart. This breakdown points to sustained price action for a potential technical pullback. Meanwhile, the 100 and 200-period Moving Averages are currently tracking at 0.9195 and 0.9170, respectively. Additionally, a local horizontal support floor rests at the 0.9164 level; this support runs closely aligned with the 200-period moving average and sits right midway through the 0.50 and 0.618 Fibonacci retracement levels, meaning it will likely function as a major target for a corrective downward move.

A review of the oscillator section provides secondary cross-verification for this developing downward move. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) climbed all the way to the 76 level, moving deep into overbought territory, a placement that could easily accelerate profit-taking from long positions as well as trigger the entry of new short positions.
