Special-purpose acquisition company Hennessy Capital Investment Corp. VIII filed for an initial public offering.

The company plans to offer 17.5 million units for $10 apiece. Each unit will consist of one Class A share and the right to receive one-fifteenth of a share upon the consummation of an initial business combination.

The company's chair and chief executive is Daniel Hennessy, who has overseen several SPACs, including ones that merged with the school bus maker Blue Bird Corp., logistics company TFI International and rail-infrastructure company NRC Group.

His son Thomas Hennessy is president and a director. He has helped oversee business combinations with the real estate company LatAm Logistic Properties and the homeowner software provider Porch Group.

The company is looking for an acquisition target that operates in the industrial, clean energy or metals and minerals industries with $500 million or more in enterprise value.

It plans to trade shares on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol HCIC.
