Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the IT, REITs and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.90%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX:BHC), which rose 11.26% or 1.00 points to trade at 9.88 at the close. Meanwhile, Curaleaf Holdings Inc (TSX:CURA) added 4.63% or 0.15 points to end at 3.39 and Nutrien Ltd (TSX:NTR) was up 3.63% or 2.95 points to 84.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Celestica Inc. (TSX:CLS), which fell 7.27% or 34.90 points to trade at 445.21 at the close. Shopify Inc (TSX:SHOP) declined 6.32% or 14.11 points to end at 209.11 and Bombardier Inc (TSX:BBDb) was down 4.35% or 10.10 points to 221.99.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 484 to 432 and 62 ended unchanged.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 4.46% to 14.76.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.41% or 17.45 to $4,272.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.57% or 0.92 to hit $59.47 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.41% or 0.88 to trade at $63.26 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 0.71, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.29% to 0.62.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 99.35.
