Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Electronics and Electrical/Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 2.57% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Globe Industries Corp (TW:1324), which rose 10.00% or 1.05 points to trade at 11.55 at the close. Meanwhile, WNC Corp (TW:6285) added 10.00% or 10.00 points to end at 110.00 and Promise Technology Inc (TW:3057) was up 9.98% or 2.10 points to 23.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Les Enphants Co Ltd (TW:2911), which fell 9.93% or 0.56 points to trade at 5.08 at the close. Kung Sing Engineering Corp (TW:5521) declined 9.86% or 2.40 points to end at 21.95 and Sunko Ink Co Ltd (TW:1721) was down 9.80% or 1.70 points to 15.65.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.
Shares in Promise Technology Inc (TW:3057) rose to 5-year highs; up 9.98% or 2.10 to 23.15.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 1.51% or 0.86 to $56.27 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 1.10% or 0.67 to hit $60.03 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.72% or 32.20 to trade at $4,463.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.02% to 31.48, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.18% to 0.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 98.28.
