Huitong Construction's Consortium Bags 426 Million Yuan Education Center Construction Project

A consortium founded by Huitong Construction Group won an education center construction bid for 425.6 million yuan, according to a Shanghai bourse disclosure on Tuesday.

The Chinese construction company, along with consortium member Hebei Shiyuan Engineering Consulting Group, will construct section 1 of the Gaobeidian Vocational Education Center.

The section includes a teaching area of 53,291.22 square meters.

The construction period will begin on Aug. 10 this year and is expected to be completed on Dec. 31, 2026.

Huitong Construction's shares rose less than 2% in recent trade.

Shares in a number of Chinese biopharmaceutical firms closed higher on Tuesday after Beijing called on insurers to invest in the sector.

Following the announcement, shares in Staidson Beijing Biopharmaceuticals closed 15% higher, while Thalys Medical Technology surged 10% and Lepu Medical Technology soared 8% during the close of trading on Tuesday.

The National Health Security Administration will tap commercial insurers to invest in the country's biopharmaceutical sector and help develop homegrown drugs, it said Monday.

China is encouraging commercial insurers to set up investment funds to "cultivate patient capital" to foster the development of innovative drugs, the NHSA said.

Huitong Construction Group is contributing 136.9 million yuan as part of a consortium that will establish project company Cangzhou Xionggang Expressway Construction.

The company's investment comprises 5% of Cangzhou Xionggang Expressway Construction's total registered capital of 2.74 billion yuan, according to a Friday filing with the Shanghai bourse.

Shares of the construction company closed 3% higher Friday.
