U.S. natural gas futures settle mixed with the Nymex front month edging down ahead of tomorrow's storage report and winter months gaining. Analysts in WSJ survey project a 78 Bcf weekly injection to 3,421 Bcf. "We continue to forecast total gas inventories to exceed 3.9 Tcf this fall," including more than 350 Bcf in salt caverns, Clifton White and Francisco Blanch of Bank of America say in a report. High salt inventories limit the market's ability to balance in the event of LNG feedgas demand disruptions, they note. Bank of America lowers its 4Q Henry Hub price estimate to $3/mmBtu and keeps its 2026 forecast at $4 on robust LNG demand, "but early winter gas production growth could risk lower 2026 gas prices." Silver held earlier losses, trading just below $42 per ounce on Wednesday, followin Federal Reserve’s policy decision.

The Federal Reserve cut interest rates by 25 basis points, lowering its benchmark to 4.00%–4.25% in its first move of 2025 and signaling two more reductions this year as the labor market weakens.

The decision, passed in a split vote, saw new Governor Stephen Miran dissent in favor of a larger half-point cut.

Fed officials’ projections now point to two additional cuts by year-end, up from earlier forecasts.

Elsewhere, central banks in Canada and China are expected to ease policy this week, while those in Japan and the UK are likely to stand pat.

Still, strong industrial demand from solar, electric vehicles and electronics, combined with supply constraints, continues to lend support to silver prices.

The following is a range of analysts' estimates of export sales for the week ended Sept. 11. The estimates and prior week's actual figures encompass combined sales for all marketing years, unless indicated.
