Chinese Stocks Muted Over Ongoing Trade War With US; Ongoal Technology Soars 165% at Debut

Chinese shares closed flat on Thursday as investors remained cautious over additional tariffs the White House is planning on Chinese goods.
The Shanghai Composite Index, the main gauge for Chinese equities, marginally rose to close at 3,280.34. The Shenzhen Component Index edged up 0.2%, or 15.68 points, to 9,759.05.
China is facing tariffs of up to 245% from the US. The White House said the heightened tariffs are a result of China's retaliatory actions, when China slapped duties of 125% on US goods after the US hit China with 145% tariffs.
In corporate news, Ongoal Technology 3 soared 165% at the close of its trading debut. The shares of the automated processing production lines and equipment manufacturer grew nearly three times more than their initial public offering price of 26.60 yuan apiece.
Moreover, Anhui Guofeng New Materials surged 10% at the close after starting the trial production of a high-end functional polypropylene film plant.
HOB Biotech Group jumped 5.2% following the appointment of Zhang Yangqing as chief financial officer.
