Gold is attempting to regain its footing on Tuesday, recovering from an Asian-session low of $4,104 to trade around $4,156, up roughly 0.4% on the day. The move comes as a retreat in US Treasury yields takes some momentum out of the US Dollar and gives the precious metal room to recover.

The benchmark 10-year Treasury yield has slipped toward 5.269% after reaching 5.349% on Monday, its highest since 2002. At the same time, the US Dollar Index has eased toward 102.00 after setting a fresh year-to-date peak at 102.53.

Despite the rebound, Gold remains trapped in a relatively tight $4,100–$4,200 range. Yields remain historically elevated, maintaining a significant headwind for a non-yielding asset, while persistent inflation and resilient US growth continue to support expectations that monetary conditions will remain restrictive.

The immediate Fed outlook has nevertheless become less threatening for bullion. Recent employment and inflation figures have softened expectations for another increase at the October meeting, with markets assigning around an 80% probability of unchanged rates. That repricing has helped stabilize Gold, although expectations of another hike later in the year remain an obstacle to a stronger recovery.

Energy-driven inflation risks are also beginning to ease somewhat. WTI has retreated toward $87, near one-month lows, as Gulf exports recover and emergency reserve releases improve supply conditions.

Attention now turns to Wednesday's FOMC minutes for clues about how strongly policymakers favour additional tightening. A sustained decline in both Treasury yields and the Dollar would provide a more convincing foundation for Gold to extend its recovery.

For now, the rebound from $4,104 is encouraging, but Gold still needs to establish itself above $4,200 before the recovery can develop into something more substantial. Longer term, fiscal concerns, central-bank buying and Gold-backed ETF demand continue to provide an underlying source of support.

Technical Analysis

Gold is staging a convincing recovery on the 45-minute chart after buyers stepped back in around the $4,110–$4,115 demand zone. The rebound has carried XAU/USD toward $4,179, placing price directly against an important short-term barrier.

The immediate battleground sits around $4,170–$4,180. This area has repeatedly influenced price action over recent sessions, but the latest approach is backed by a sharp sequence of higher lows and strong bullish candles. A sustained push above $4,180 would strengthen the recovery structure and suggest that the rebound has further room to develop.

Above here, attention shifts toward the substantial $4,218–$4,228 resistance zone. This is likely to provide a tougher test, meaning some profit-taking or a temporary pullback could emerge if price reaches it. However, a successful breakout and retest of $4,228 would substantially improve the bullish picture, exposing $4,270 before the larger $4,295–$4,306 supply region comes into play.

The bullish scenario remains dependent on buyers protecting the newly reclaimed $4,165–$4,170 area. A deeper reversal beneath this region could drag Gold back toward $4,140, while the $4,110–$4,115 zone remains the key defensive floor.

For now, the recovery from $4,110 has changed the short-term momentum. The preferred scenario is a breakout above $4,180, continuation toward $4,225, followed by a possible retest before another advance toward $4,300.
