@Skylark I gathered that gold, silver, S&P500, Nasdaq & Dow Jones are very bullish now. He spoke of yields as very driven by makerts and geopolitics which Fed has not control over... overall sounding like they priced redicilously... XAU/USD at $4,050: Gold Faces Renewed Selling Pressure as the Fed Decision Looms

          Gerik

          Commodity

          Summary:

On 28 October 2026, gold is trading around $4,050 after its recovery from last week's low near $3,975 stalled at resistance around $4,070. Rising oil prices, renewed US dollar strength and expectations of prolonged restrictive monetary policy are weighing on bullion ahead of the Federal Reserve's decision...

          Market Overview

Gold's recent price action reflects a fundamental conflict between safe-haven demand and rising interest-rate expectations. On 28 October, Reuters reported spot gold down 0.7% at $4,030.20 as higher oil prices revived concerns about persistent inflation. An attack on a Saudi refinery pushed oil prices higher, increasing the possibility that the Fed will maintain restrictive monetary conditions for longer. Because gold does not generate interest income, elevated yields and a stronger dollar make it less attractive relative to interest-bearing assets.
The Federal Reserve meeting is the immediate macroeconomic catalyst. Although markets broadly expect rates to remain unchanged, the statement and subsequent guidance could influence expectations for December. The latest market pricing places the probability of a December hike around 84%, creating a headwind for gold if policymakers emphasise persistent inflation. Thursday's PCE release will provide another important test of that outlook.
Technically, the $4,070 region is especially important because it previously acted as support before the latest sell-off. Its failure to support the recent recovery suggests that former buyers may now be selling into rebounds. For a SELL at $4,050, the preferred scenario is continued rejection beneath $4,070 followed by a breakdown through $4,000. However, if the Fed disappoints dollar bulls, gold could rebound sharply, making event-related volatility the primary execution risk.

          Market Sentiment

Sentiment remains cautious, with the broader trend favouring sellers despite signs that downside momentum is moderating. Recent technical analysis places gold inside a descending channel, with resistance around $4,070 and additional resistance near $4,125. Support remains concentrated around $4,000, followed by the $3,940–$3,970 region.
The important distinction is that a bearish trend does not guarantee immediate downside continuation. Gold has already rebounded from $3,975, and some momentum indicators have stabilised. If price holds above $4,030 and breaks through $4,070, short-covering could accelerate toward $4,100–$4,125.
For the SELL setup, the stronger confirmation would be a failed recovery toward $4,060–$4,070, followed by a bearish M15 candle and a lower low. If price consolidates above $4,070, avoid assuming that resistance will hold indefinitely. The Fed announcement could produce abrupt price movements in either direction.

          Technical Analysis

XAU/USD at $4,050: Gold Faces Renewed Selling Pressure as the Fed Decision Looms_1
Bollinger Bands (20,0,2): Exact live M15 band values could not be independently verified. Look for price to reject the upper band near $4,060–$4,070 and close back inside the envelope. A downward-sloping middle band would support bearish continuation. If the bands expand upward and price sustains trading above the middle band, the recovery may be strengthening.
Ichimoku Kinko Hyo (9,26,52): Current live M15 Tenkan-sen, Kijun-sen and Kumo readings are unavailable. A stronger SELL configuration requires price below the cloud, Tenkan-sen below Kijun-sen, and the cloud acting as resistance during a rebound. A bearish crossover near $4,070 would reinforce the setup. If price reclaims the cloud, the immediate bearish thesis weakens.
Stochastic (5,3,3): Look for a bearish crossover from the upper region after price tests resistance. Confirmation improves if the crossover coincides with a lower high and a bearish M15 close. If Stochastic is already deeply oversold near $4,000, avoid chasing the decline because a corrective rebound may develop.
The immediate resistance zone is $4,060–$4,070, followed by $4,100–$4,125. Support is located around $4,030–$4,000, with $3,965 as the next significant downside reference. A sustained break below $4,000 would strengthen the bearish case, while a decisive move above $4,070 would weaken it.
