USD/CHF extends its advance for a third consecutive session on Friday, climbing toward 0.8296 and reaching its strongest level in nearly 16 months. The latest move reflects persistent US Dollar strength as investors increasingly position for another round of Federal Reserve tightening.

Expectations for higher US interest rates have strengthened considerably as elevated Oil prices combine with resilient economic activity to keep inflation risks alive. The CME FedWatch Tool now places the probability of an October rate hike at around 67.5%, compared with 55.4% a week earlier and only 11% a month ago. That sharp repricing continues to favor the Greenback and has helped USD/CHF extend its recent breakout.

The Swiss Franc, meanwhile, has struggled to attract meaningful demand following the Swiss National Bank's September meeting. Policymakers kept the benchmark rate unchanged at 0%, maintaining a clear contrast with the increasingly hawkish outlook surrounding the Fed.

The SNB pointed to heightened uncertainty stemming from the Middle East and persistently elevated energy prices as important risks surrounding the economic outlook. Nevertheless, Switzerland's economy has remained relatively resilient, helped in part by the weaker Franc, while medium-term inflation pressures have risen only modestly.

Policymakers also maintained their readiness to intervene in the foreign-exchange market when necessary. However, uncertainty over whether future intervention would be aimed at supporting or restraining the Franc leaves that guidance open to interpretation.

For USD/CHF, the widening policy contrast remains the dominant driver. With US rate expectations moving higher while the SNB remains on hold, the fundamental backdrop continues to support the pair near its highest levels in more than a year.

USD/CHF continues to display a strong bullish structure on the 4-hour chart, with the pair maintaining a consistent sequence of higher highs and higher lows since bottoming around the 0.7970 region in August. Price is currently trading near 0.8292, testing the upper boundary of an important resistance area.

The latest advance has pushed USD/CHF through the 0.8260–0.8275 zone, which had previously capped upside attempts. Price is now attempting to establish itself above this region, and the chart suggests a brief pullback or retest could develop before buyers attempt another leg higher.

As long as the pair remains above 0.8260, the breakout structure remains constructive. A successful retest of this former resistance as support would strengthen the case for continued appreciation. The recent price sequence also shows buyers repeatedly stepping in following relatively shallow corrections, indicating that bullish momentum remains dominant.

A sustained push above 0.8300 would leave relatively limited visible resistance immediately overhead and could accelerate the advance toward 0.8350, followed by the projected 0.8420–0.8440 region.

On the downside, a failure to defend 0.8260 would open the possibility of a deeper correction toward the next significant demand zone around 0.8200–0.8215. Below there, stronger support is visible around 0.8130–0.8140. However, such a move would currently represent a correction within the broader bullish structure rather than an outright trend reversal.

Overall, the technical picture favors a minor retest followed by bullish continuation, with a confirmed break above 0.8300 potentially providing the catalyst for the next acceleration higher.
