Fundamental Analysis
The loonie continues to exhibit strength against the US Dollar, as a blend of varied US macroeconomic indicators counterbalances the negative impact of the weak Canadian Gross Domestic Product data. Consequently, the currency hovers at multi-month lows, residing below the 1.3300 mark.
Although the Canadian Dollar has faced adversity, the influence of the fluctuating US data, particularly the unexpected contraction of November's PCE Prices Index, has helped mitigate its negative effects. This has raised expectations for potential Federal Reserve cuts in early 2024.
Technical Analysis
USD/CAD in a strong downtrend as we can see in the chart below, the gap between the price and the 200 Day Moving Average is huge which indicates the bearish trend is very strong. This would be the main reason why my bias is looking for shorts instead of longs. I will be setting a pending order below the weak support level and look for shorts towards the daily support at price 1.30921.
