Ceasefire Extension: The U.S. decision to extend the ceasefire agreement related to Iran has significantly mitigated fears of an immediate, out-of-control escalation in the Middle East. This move provided a tactical floor for gold, halting the panic-driven exodus of safe-haven capital.
Offsetting Policy Shocks: This extension successfully neutralized the previous bearish impact caused by the U.S. Vice President’s cancellation of scheduled negotiations, which had briefly fueled concerns over a diplomatic collapse.
Diminishing Sensitivity: Despite the flow of positive news, the market’s sensitivity to geopolitical headlines is waning. Gold bulls appear increasingly fatigued at these elevated levels, and the risk of a "sell-the-fact" reversal is mounting as the immediate catalysts become priced in.
Technical Analysis

MACD Bearish Divergence: On the 4-hour chart, a clear bearish divergence has emerged between the MACD and the price action. This suggests that even if gold attempts to push higher or maintain its current range, the underlying upward momentum has severely dissipated.
Formidable Resistance: Overhead supply remains heavy. Even with short-term rebound potential, the $5,020 level stands as a formidable psychological and technical barrier, likely capping any significant upside in the near term.
Critical Support Levels: Traders should focus on the $4,700 psychological handle. A decisive break below this level could trigger an acceleration in selling pressure, potentially driving prices down to test $4,638 or even deeper liquidity zones.
