Fundamental Analysis
On December 22, 2023 at 07:30 (GMT +8), the Japan National CPI for November was released. The actual 3.8% came out lower than the CPI data for October which was a good news for the Japan and helped to strengthened its currency. This could be one of the factors that has weakend the GBP/JPY causing it to lower its price to one of the very strong support level.
Technical Analysis
On the Daily timeframe, GBP/JPY has been forming higher highs and higher lows which forms the uptrend structure. However, GBP/JPY got rejected from around the 190.000 level due to the intervention of the Japanese government to strengthen the JPY currency. With the help from the Japan CPI data, it continued to weaken the GBP/JPY causing it to come to a key support level and the 200 Day Moving Average.
I will be monitoring closely on the GBP/JPY waiting for the price to cross over the 200 Day Moving Average which indicates the change of trend and as well as breaking the key support level (176.330) to look for short oppportunities.
