@EuroTradert what we know about gold... is gold going to repeat the parobolic bull run it had in second half of 2025 then there wont be pull backs for 5 months lol.. but we don't know if another bull run like that is now in play ..although the break out to the upside this week was strong and it carries momentum ...so selling will require some risk management
@MIDAS TOUCHYeah what you are saying is technically correct, from my overall perspective, the gold is still bullish my sells will be for counter trends

“Summer Effect” May Weigh on Employment Growth, While the World Cup Could Become a Market Variable

          Eva Chen
          Summary:

The U.S. labor market is set to become the key focus for financial markets in the short term. Although most leading indicators continue to point to a relatively resilient labor market, the so-called “summer effect,” together with slowing labor supply growth, could result in July job gains coming in below previous market expectations. At the same time, World Cup-related consumer activity could provide additional support to the U.S. economy, introducing some uncertainty into employment data.

          Fundamentals
Gold is on track to post its strongest weekly gain since January. The recent decline in oil prices has eased concerns about a renewed acceleration in inflation, while investors are awaiting the U.S. July nonfarm payrolls report for further clues about the resilience of the U.S. economy and the Federal Reserve’s future policy path.
The market currently expects U.S. nonfarm payrolls to increase by around 80,000 in July, with the unemployment rate remaining unchanged at 4.2% and average hourly earnings rising 0.3% month over month. If the data broadly meets expectations, market attention will likely shift toward the sustainability of employment growth and whether wage growth continues to moderate.
Recent data suggest that the U.S. labor market remains relatively resilient. In the week ending August 1, initial jobless claims edged up to 199,000, while the four-week moving average fell further to its lowest level since September 2022. Meanwhile, continuing claims increased to 1.8 million, broadly in line with expectations. Overall, the labor market has yet to show clear signs of significant deterioration.
However, July employment data could still be affected by seasonal factors. The so-called “summer effect” may lead to a slowdown in hiring activity across certain sectors, creating temporary pressure on job growth. In addition, weak labor supply growth could limit the scope for further hiring, meaning that July employment gains may come in below expectations.
At the same time, World Cup-related activity could become a variable in employment and consumer spending data. Increased consumption and demand for services during the tournament could provide additional support to economic activity. As the event concludes and statistical estimates are subsequently revised, some temporary employment gains could also be revised higher. As a result, a single month of nonfarm payrolls data may not fully reflect the underlying trend in the U.S. labor market.
For gold, the $4,000 region has demonstrated strong support during previous market fluctuations, regardless of the eventual outcome of the nonfarm payrolls report. The recent recovery in gold prices also suggests that bullish market sentiment is gradually returning.
Meanwhile, easing tensions in the Middle East and improving prospects for a peace agreement have contributed to lower oil prices, further reducing concerns about energy-driven inflation. This development has, to some extent, eased pressure on the Federal Reserve to maintain restrictive interest rates and created a more favorable environment for gold to break higher from its multi-week consolidation range.
Therefore, the fundamental backdrop for gold remains broadly constructive. However, after the recent rapid advance, markets should remain alert to the potential for sharp volatility following the nonfarm payrolls release.
“Summer Effect” May Weigh on Employment Growth, While the World Cup Could Become a Market Variable_1
          Technical Analysis
From a technical perspective, gold briefly consolidated on Thursday before resuming its upward trend on Friday. The price reached a three-week high and decisively broke above the $4,300 level.
Following the breakout above $4,300, the next short-term bullish target is around $4,380, corresponding to the previous high established in mid-June. A decisive break above $4,380 could open the door to further upside and reinforce the medium-term bullish structure.
However, from a short-term perspective, gold has entered a major resistance zone following its consecutive gains, leaving less room for further upside. Although technical indicators show that upward momentum continues to expand, the rapid advance has left the price without significant new structural support. If the nonfarm payrolls report comes in stronger than expected, a sharp rebound in the U.S. dollar and Treasury yields could trigger a pronounced pullback in gold.
Therefore, the key issue at this stage is not simply whether gold can continue rising, but whether the breakout above $4,300 can be sustained.
If the nonfarm payrolls data comes in below expectations, gold could extend its advance toward $4,380. However, if employment data significantly exceeds expectations, gold could form a short-term top around $4,380 and subsequently fall back below $4,300. A further break below $4,255 and $4,222 could expand the downside toward $4,100 or even lower.
