国際的な金融サービス企業シティは、過去6か月間の力強い成長を受けてステーブルコイン市場の予測を改定し、2030年までに市場規模が最大4兆ドルに達すると見込んでいる。

シティのアナリストが発表した新しい予測では、ステーブルコイン市場の基本シナリオを1兆9000億ドル、強気シナリオを4兆ドルとした。これは以前の1兆6000億ドルと3兆7000億ドルから上方修正されたものだ。

またアナリストは、銀行業界からの懸念に反し、ステーブルコインが銀行セクターを混乱させることはなく、トークン化された銀行預金などと並んで金融システムを刷新する役割を果たすと予測している。

「懐疑派は再び銀行が仲介機能を失うと主張しているが、我々は仮想通貨が既存システムを破壊するとは考えていない。むしろそれは金融システムを再構築する助けとなっている」

RWA.XYZのデータによると、ステーブルコインの時価総額は9月に2800億ドルを突破し、記事執筆時点で2870億ドル超に達している。

米国ではステーブルコインの包括的規制枠組みであるGENIUS法が成立したことで、ステーブルコイン発行が加速し、業界の成長に拍車がかかっている。

各国政府も自国通貨強化へステーブルコインを活用

3月、米国のスコット・ベッセント財務長官は、ステーブルコインが米ドルを世界的により利用しやすくすることで、ドル覇権を拡張できると述べた。

その後、ステーブルコインはトランプ政権において重要な柱となり、米国が仮想通貨分野で覇権を握るための戦略の一環とされている。

米国でGENIUS法が可決されたことを受け、他の主権国家も自国通貨の国際為替市場における流動性を高める手段として、独自のステーブルコイン発行を検討し始めた。

長らく仮想通貨や民間発行の通貨に敵対的だった中国政府も、2025年8月に方針を転換し、国際利用を目的とした人民元連動型ステーブルコインの導入を検討していると報じられている。

さらに9月には、フィンテック企業アンカーXが初のオフショア人民元連動型ステーブルコインを発表した。このトークンは国際商取引での利用に限定され、中国本土の居住者は利用できない。
