Изначально аналитики предположили взлом самого протокола, однако представители сети опровергли утверждения.

«Инцидент связан с атакой на личный кошелек пользователя и не связан с THORChain», — уточнила команда.

Позднее ончейн-сыщик ZachXBT заявил, что пострадавший адрес связан с Торбьернсеном, а атака произошла в ходе фейковой онлайн-встречи. При этом исследователь обвинил во взломе северокорейских хакеров.

«[Торбьернсен] — один из тех, кто получил огромную финансовую выгоду от отмывания денег со взломов/эксплойтов КНДР. Поэтому довольно поэтично, что Северная Корея настигла его», — добавил аналитик.

Основатель THORChain тоже подтвердил быстро распространившиеся слухи о взломе личного кошелька. Согласно публикации, 4 сентября ему прислали фишинговую ссылку на Zoom-встречу в Telegram со скомпрометированного аккаунта друга.

После того, как Торбьернсен перешел по ссылке, преступники включили дипфейк его товарища. За две минуты беседы им удалось неким образом загрузить вредоносный скрипт на его компьютер и украсть все данные.

12 сентября THORChain начала рассылать ончейн-сообщения на адрес злоумышленников с просьбой вернуть средства за вознаграждение.

Напомним, в августе ущерб от взломов в криптоиндустрии составил $163 млн. Аналитики PeckShield зафиксировали около 16 крупных атак.
