Data Interpretation: The data reflects manufacturing activity, with orders broadly defined as transactions of goods intended for purchase that are expected to be shipped immediately or in the future.
Durable goods orders are an indicator of the change in the total value of new durable goods orders, and a higher indicator indicates an increase in manufacturer activity.
Also note that the durable goods orders report is very volatile and is often revised with the factory orders report, which is released about a week later.
