with regards to the gold market ..the bullion banks have been buying tons of physical gold but they also have trading departments that are holding massive short positions and they need to start offloading those positions so they need to buy back to cover the shorts but in order to do that because it is billions of dollars size positions they need to generate a long squeeze against the hedge funds and investors that are long .. they need to squeeze those magin calls below 4000 and then they can go long again.
