Interpretation Fed policy meetings are usually attended by FOMC members to discuss and decide monetary policy. At policy meetings, participants discuss domestic and international economic conditions, inflation, employment, financial market conditions, and other relevant factors to decide whether interest rates need to be adjusted. Interest rate decisions are usually accompanied by a statement which explains the reasons behind the decision and the policy stance. It also describes the results of officials' full assessment of domestic and international economic conditions, the future direction of monetary policy, and the risk factors of the economy and inflation. In addition, the Summary of Economic Projections, which is published quarterly, contains officials' projections of key economic indicators (such as inflation, economic growth, and employment) for the short- and medium-term future. These forecasts can provide clues about the direction and pace of monetary policy, as they reflect Fed officials' views on economic trends. Market participants usually refer to the SPE to adjust their policy expectations, particularly regarding the direction of interest rates.
