In the short term, gold prices are primarily driven by Federal Reserve policy expectations and key macroeconomic data. July PCE rose 3.7% YoY, slightly above the market consensus of 3.6%; the MoM figure rose 0.2%, also beating the 0.1% forecast. Core PCE held steady at 3.3% YoY and rose 0.2% MoM. This "slightly hot" dataset indicates persistent sticky inflation in the US without clear signs of cooling, directly bolstering market expectations for the Fed to maintain higher interest rates for longer or even hike further.

Consequently, the CME FedWatch Tool showed the probability of a 9-month Fed rate hike rising from roughly 36% prior to the data release to around 40%. Key upside resistance rests near the previous high of 4677.48, serving as a strong overhead barrier. A decisive breakout and hold above this level would reactivate gold's primary uptrend.

Regarding indicators, within the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo system, the Tenkan-sen (red line: 4510.625) remains below the Kijun-sen (blue line: 4617.847), signaling short-term pullbacks. However, price action remains above the underlying pink-red cloud (Senkou Span), while the Chikou Span (green line) sits above the price, preserving the broader long-term bullish structure. The current candlestick is testing the Kijun-sen support. While capped in the near term, strong cloud support below suggests gold could build a base through further consolidation before resuming its advance.

On the ADX indicator, the ADX line sits at 23.08 and is ticking downward, while +DI (15.12) and -DI (17.61) are intertwined with -DI marginally ahead.
