Trade Nation has named industry veteran Luis Raposo dos Santos as its new Chief Executive Officer for Portugal, according to an update on his LinkedIn profile. He will be based in Lisbon, where the broker is steadily building out a local operation.
The move follows Trade Nation’s decision last year to establish a dedicated entity in Portugal. At the time, the broker began recruiting for several compliance-heavy roles, including Head of Compliance, Risk Manager, and System Administrator, signalling a long-term commitment to the market rather than a light-touch presence.
Dos Santos joins Trade Nation from Finalto, where he spent the past two years as Sales Director for LATAM, working out of London. Before that, he held senior commercial and growth roles across a number of well-known brokers, including Markets.com, Vida Markets, and Trading 212.
Earlier in his career, dos Santos also worked at IG Group, London Capital Group, and Blackwell Global, covering business development, partnerships, and client onboarding. His background spans both retail and institutional environments, with a strong focus on building teams and scaling regional operations.
The appointment comes as Trade Nation continues to reshape its leadership team. In recent months, the broker has brought in Kypros Zoumidou as Managing Director and Philippe Capelle also joined as Chief Marketing Officer, adding further weight to the senior lineup.
On the business side, Trade Nation recently reported a return to profitability in the UK. For the financial year ending 30 November 2024, the company posted a net profit of just under £1 million, marking a sharp turnaround from the previous year’s loss. Revenue and operating profit both improved significantly, supported by tighter cost control.
With dos Santos now leading Portugal, Trade Nation appears to be laying the groundwork for its next phase of European growth.
