Cboe Global Markets has appointed Boudewijn Duinstra as Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer, strengthening the exchange operator’s global risk and clearing leadership as it continues expanding its derivatives and clearing businesses.

Duinstra brings more than 30 years of experience across risk management, clearing, and derivatives markets. He most recently served as CEO of ABN AMRO Clearing USA and previously held senior positions including Head of Risk Management at ICE Clear Europe and Global Chief Risk Officer at ABN AMRO Clearing Bank.

At Cboe, he will lead the company’s global risk management function, focusing on enterprise risk oversight, operational resilience, governance, and clearing operations as the exchange group continues its next phase of international growth.

Cboe CEO Craig Donohue said Duinstra’s experience across derivatives, clearing, and enterprise risk management would support the company’s long-term strategy and operational resilience.

Duinstra will be based at Cboe’s headquarters in Chicago while also spending time in Amsterdam to support the company’s European operations and clearing businesses. He will report directly to Donohue.

Cboe operates global equities, derivatives, FX, and clearing markets and is widely known for launching the world’s first listed options exchange and creating the VIX volatility index.
