AFM Warns Consumers About Suspected Online Investment Fraud

7 hours ago BrokersView

The Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) is warning consumers about several online entities suspected of operating as boilerrooms. These schemes are a common form of online investment fraud, in which individuals are approached with misleading or high-pressure investment offers that often result in financial loss.

According to the AFM, the entities identified below are offering investment opportunities without the required supervision or authorisation. In boilerroom schemes, fraudsters typically present themselves as legitimate financial service providers, use professional-looking websites and contact details, and promise attractive returns to gain trust. Once funds are transferred, victims often find it difficult or impossible to recover their money.

The AFM stresses that these entities are not known to be licensed or supervised in the Netherlands. Consumers are therefore advised not to engage with any offers made by these parties and not to transfer funds or share personal or financial information. Investors are reminded to always verify whether a firm is authorised by consulting the AFM register before responding to unsolicited investment proposals.

If you suspect fraud, report it through BrokersView.
