Is Moneta legit or not? What license does it have?

ANSWER Dear Investor, According to our research, Moneta Markets claims to operate under the financial regulations and compliance standards of the Sri Lanka Indonesia Business Council (SLIBC). Please note that SLIBC is not a recognized financial regulatory authority, and it does not regulate forex trading. Therefore, this so-called regulation offers no real protection for traders’ funds. Moneta Markets also claims to be authorized by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) in South Africa. Upon verification, there is indeed a licensed entity named MONETA MARKETS (PTY) LTD licensed by the FSCA. However, the FSCA does not publicly disclose associated domain names, which raises concerns about the possibility of identity theft. It is also important to note that the FSCA is an offshore jurisdiction which is often subject to weaker oversight and limited investor protections. As a result, the presence of a license alone does not guarantee strong regulation or full compliance. In conclusion, although Moneta Markets appears to hold a license, investors should still remain cautious and carefully assess the risks before engaging with this broker.

We checked the broker's statement and found that the company named Vantage Global Limited is on the licensed list.However, VFSC is a popular offshore regulator among forex brokers as capital (or bond) requirements are relatively small. A Forex license covering the online activities of a brokerage is issued in 2-3 months, which is indeed extremely fast. Moreover, there is no income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax in the country. So VFSC-regulated brokers are actually not under as strong regulation as FCA, ASIC and NFA regulated brokers. Most importantly, some shady brokers will falsely use the regulatory information of a licensed broker by VFSC, as this regulator provides neither authentication details nor domains of the registered company for traders to verify. Consequently, it is not a hundred percent sure that the licensed entity is the one that runs the business under the trading name of InvestPro Markets. We would recommend exercising caution when dealing with VFSC- regulated brokers.
