Daily Technical Analysis: [04 SEP]

2026-09-04 TMGM

1. USD/JPY Analysis:

News Summary:

The Bank of Japan’s current account projection released on Thursday indicated that the monetary authorities did not conduct large-scale yen purchases on Wednesday, suggesting that the sharp fluctuations in the exchange rate that day were more likely driven by investors reassessing expectations for Bank of Japan rate hikes rather than renewed intervention by the Japanese government. Fiscal factors are expected to reduce the current account balance by ¥410 billion, compared with an average decline of around ¥700 billion forecast by money market brokers. The gap between the two figures is smaller than Japan’s smallest single intervention since 2022, which amounted to ¥729 billion.

Trend Analysis:

We can see USD/JPY rebounded from oversold levels on the H4 chart but remains below the 48 hours moving average. On the other hand, the MACD double line and energy bars are converging below the zero axis. The buy limit could be set, stop loss is necessary.

2. Gold Analysis:

News Summary:

Gold prices held near $4,500 per ounce on Thursday after gaining nearly 2% overnight. Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller signaled that he would favor keeping interest rates unchanged if inflation continues to ease, providing further support for gold prices. A weaker U.S. dollar and lower U.S. Treasury yields also helped underpin the precious metal. Meanwhile, markets are awaiting Friday’s U.S. nonfarm payrolls report, as well as inflation data due next week.

Trend Analysis:

On the H4 chart, we can see gold’s rebound encountered resistance, with prices trading around the 48 hours moving average. In addition, the MACD double line and histogram bars remain above the zero axis but are losing momentum. The buy limit could be placed, stop loss is mandatory.
