SGT Markets Appoints Peter Kristensen as Chief Executive Officer

Jan 04, 2026 BrokersView

SGT Markets has appointed Peter Kristensen as Chief Executive Officer, elevating a long-serving executive with deep capital markets and brokerage experience into the firm’s top leadership role. The appointment took effect in January 2026.

Kristensen brings more than three decades of experience across banking, online trading, fund services, and financial technology. His career began in 1986 at a Danish bank before moving into the emerging online trading sector in the early 1990s. He later joined Saxo Bank, where he spent a decade and rose to become Co-Head of Sales Trading, playing a role during the industry’s formative years.

In the mid-2000s, Kristensen was seconded to Synthesis Bank, now Saxo Bank Switzerland, to support the build-out of its online trading operations. He left in 2006 to co-found JP Fund Services in Switzerland, where he served as Chairman and led the firm’s development into alternative asset structures and technology-enabled investment solutions.

Kristensen joined SGT Markets in 2022 as Chief Financial Officer, overseeing financial strategy, regulatory execution, capital allocation, and risk management for the regulated multi-asset broker. His promotion to CEO follows four years in senior management and reflects continuity in leadership at a firm operating across private and institutional client segments.

Beyond SGT Markets, Kristensen has held executive, advisory, and board roles across fintech, blockchain, and digital asset firms in Europe, the Caribbean, and the United States. His experience includes leadership positions at Trademakers, advisory roles with Web3 and stablecoin platforms, and board-level involvement in tokenised asset and investment infrastructure projects.

SGT Markets said Kristensen’s background in trading, brokerage operations, and financial structuring positions him to guide the firm through its next phase, balancing regulatory requirements with product and client portfolio development.

The appointment highlights an ongoing trend across brokerage firms toward promoting executives with cross-functional experience spanning finance, operations, and market structure, as competitive pressures and regulatory scrutiny continue to increase globally.
