OANDA has appointed Paweł Latocha as its new Head of Operational Risk, a significant move in strengthening the company's leadership. Latocha has also joined the management board of OANDA TMS, the Polish subsidiary of the firm. His appointment was formally approved by the company’s Supervisory Board on November 27, marking the beginning of his tenure with OANDA. He will work closely with a five-member management team led by Marcin Niewiadomski, President of OANDA TMS, who also oversees the company’s operations in Europe.
Latocha brings with him a wealth of experience in risk management, having spent nearly five years at IG Group, where he held senior risk and compliance roles. Initially joining IG in 2021 as Risk Reporting Manager, he swiftly advanced to head operational risk assurance and reporting. In 2024, he was promoted to oversee IG’s risk and compliance portfolio, systems, and change management. Prior to his time at IG, Latocha held various risk management positions at major financial institutions including Deutsche Bank, State Street, and Shell. His diverse background will be crucial in strengthening OANDA's risk management capabilities, particularly as the company navigates increasingly complex global markets.
This executive appointment is part of a broader effort by OANDA to bolster its leadership team. Latocha’s focus on operational risk, compliance, and system integration aligns with the company’s ongoing commitment to maintain robust risk frameworks across its global operations. His extensive background in financial services risk positions him to play a pivotal role in enhancing the company’s operational resilience.
Latocha’s hiring also comes shortly after OANDA's acquisition by Czech proprietary trading firm FTMO, which closed on December 1. FTMO’s acquisition of OANDA, following months of regulatory approvals, signals an ambitious plan to grow OANDA’s operations as a standalone entity, while further expanding its services in prop trading, brokerage, and related sectors. The appointment of Latocha highlights OANDA's dedication to fortifying its internal controls and risk management structures as part of this broader transformation.
OANDA’s recent leadership reshuffles and acquisitions demonstrate a clear focus on strengthening its position in the global brokerage landscape. With Latocha’s expertise in risk management, the company is well-placed to ensure that its operations remain secure and efficient as it continues to evolve under new ownership.
