3 hours ago By Jane

Cambodian police raided two suspected cyber-scam sites in Poipet on October 24, finding 139 people at one location as authorities continued their nationwide crackdown on online fraud.

The operation involved a task force dispatched by the National Police and enforcement personnel from Banteay Meanchey province, according to the Cambodia China Times.

130 Indonesians Among Those Found

The two locations comprised a seven-storey building and a separate site containing four eight-storey residential buildings.

At the second location, officers found 130 Indonesian nationals and nine Cambodian women. The Indonesian group included 37 women. The reports did not specify individual charges or establish the role of each person found.

Police Seize Handgun and Electronic Devices

At the first location, officers seized four safes, a handgun, and numerous mobile phones and computers. Police suspected the electronic equipment had been used for online scams.

The Cambodian government has said it will continue enforcement operations against suspected scam sites across the country.
