BaFin Warns Against Multiple Unauthorised Investment Platforms and Identity Fraud Schemes

Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) has issued warnings against a series of websites suspected of providing unauthorised financial, investment and crypto-asset services, with several cases involving fake identities, cloned brands and fraudulent trading platforms.

 

The regulator said the operators behind these websites are not authorised or supervised by BaFin and may be targeting consumers through misleading investment offers designed to create the appearance of legitimacy.

 

BaFin highlighted that fraudulent platforms are increasingly using the names, branding or identities of legitimate financial companies to gain investors’ trust. In several cases, operators falsely claimed connections with regulated firms or referenced fake verification information to convince users that their services were legitimate.
