Spanish Tennis Star Rafael Nadal Warns Against Deepfake Videos

Recently, Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal issued a warning via LinkedIn, cautioning people about deepfake videos circulating on social platforms that use his image and voice to offer false investment information.

Nadal stated that he and his team recently discovered fake videos circulating on some platforms. These videos were generated using artificial intelligence technology and featured an individual whose appearance and voice were manipulated to resemble his. In some of the videos, the impersonated “Nadal” even offered investment advice to viewers.

However, the renowned athlete clarified that these statements did not originate from him and emphasized that these misleading advertisements bear no connection to him. He warned: “I have neither made nor endorsed such messages.”

However, he cautioned that this technology can also be misused to create false information, fabricate illusions, and deceive the public. He stated: “Innovation is always positive when it serves people, but we must remain aware of its risks and act with critical thinking.”
