SECP Flags "Hillhouse Capital" and "S-169 Wharton" as Unlicensed Trading Platforms

2 hours ago BrokersView

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has issued a warning about two illegal online trading platforms operating under the names “Hillhouse Capital/Hillhouse Investment” and “S-169 Wharton.”

According to SECP, these platforms are luring investors with false promises of high returns on listed company shares. The regulator confirmed that neither entity is licensed or authorized to operate in Pakistan and has referred the matter to law enforcement agencies.

SECP cautioned that such fraudulent platforms are often promoted through WhatsApp groups, where individuals misuse the names of legitimate brokers, institutions, or professionals to deceive investors.

The regulator urged investors to deal only with SECP-licensed securities and futures brokers and to use official communication channels listed on broker websites. It advised the public to verify the legitimacy of any investment service before transferring funds or sharing personal information.

SECP’s warning is clear: DO NOT deposit or invest money with “Hillhouse Capital/Hillhouse Investment,” “S-169 Wharton,” or any similar unlicensed platforms.
