OSC Flags Dozens of Unregistered Investment Platforms Targeting Ontario Investors

The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) has issued a broad warning to investors after identifying a large number of online platforms and entities offering investment or trading services in Ontario without the required registration. According to the regulator, the companies listed below are not authorised to deal in or advise on securities in the province, despite actively promoting investment opportunities through websites, cloned regulatory references, and branded sub-domains.

The OSC noted that many of these platforms present themselves as international brokers or asset managers, often claiming links to foreign regulators or displaying fabricated licence documents. Several websites use subdomains such as “fina-eu”, “ca-rfis”, or “cad-finra”, which may give the false impression of regulatory oversight or cross-border approval. In reality, none of the entities identified are registered with the OSC to conduct securities-related business in Ontario.
