August 24, 2026 – The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has updated its Investor Alert List with two new entries – Synergy Berhad and Ares – as of 21 August 2026. Both are flagged for suspected unauthorised activities, with specific allegations now detailed.
Synergy Berhad is accused of:
Operating an illegal investment scheme – Promising unreasonably high returns, e.g. RM15,000 in just 3 hours from a RM500 investment.
Carrying on unlicensed capital market activities – Specifically, dealing in securities without a valid licence.
Misrepresentation – Falsely using the SC’s name to appear legitimate.
Ares has been flagged for:
Misrepresentation and misuse of the SC’s name – Implying regulatory endorsement without authorisation.
The SC emphasises that its alert list is not exhaustive and serves only as a reference. Always verify licences via the SC’s official website before investing. Alternatively, if you have questions about a broker, you may ask BrokersView. Our team will provide detailed answers free of charge.
