Make Capital Review: What a $20 Account Really Costs, and What to Check Before Withdrawing

Make Capital’s low entry price is real; a low-risk trading experience does not automatically follow. Its advertised $20 minimum, Cent account and MetaTrader access can suit a tightly limited trial. But the decision to keep meaningful funds there should turn on the contracting company, trading permissions and withdrawal route—not the largest leverage number or a group-level licence badge.

The Make Capital broker profile brings together account details and customer feedback. This review goes a step further: what do those conditions mean for a small account, a cost-sensitive trader or someone trying to withdraw a profit?

1. Which company is actually responsible for your account?

The international website footer identifies Make Capital Ltd as incorporated in the Cayman Islands. Yet the Client Agreement linked from its current Risk Disclosure page names Make Capital Market (PTY) Ltd in South Africa. That is a material distinction, not interchangeable branding. A reader cannot safely assume that every international account contracts with either company merely because both appear on the site.

The BrokersView profile lists ASIC 537472, FSCA 53179 and Mauritius FSC GB24203199. These identifiers are starting points for matching entities and permitted activities, not one combined guarantee. An Australian company registration, an Australian financial-services licence and permission to issue a particular CFD product are separate checks. Likewise, a Cayman incorporation statement is not evidence of a CIMA investment-business licence.

Before funding, the account-opening agreement, complaints address and beneficiary information should identify a coherent relationship. A payment processor may legitimately differ from the trading counterparty, but that role should be explained. If the broker cannot identify who owes you the account balance and which complaint process applies, the low minimum does not resolve the uncertainty. The international site also restricts several markets, including the US, Australia, South Africa and Taiwan; a translated page does not establish local eligibility.

2. Is $20 enough to trade, rather than merely open an account?

Make Capital advertises $20 entry for STD, ECN, PLUS and CENT. That lowers the cash needed to access an account. It does not make a standard-lot position proportionately small. Consider an illustrative EUR/USD trade at 1.1000: 0.01 standard lot represents €1,000, or about $1,100 of exposure, with a pip value of $0.10.

Illustrative 0.01-lot position Amount Meaning for a $20 balance
Margin at 1:100 $11 More than half the balance is committed as margin
Margin at 1:2000 $0.55 Less margin, but the same dollar loss per pip
30-pip adverse move $3 before costs 15% of starting capital

These are calculations, not a live quote or a recommended trade. Spreads, commission and slippage increase the possible loss. A stop order is not a guaranteed execution price. If a trader set an illustrative 1% loss budget, $3 of price risk would require $300 of capital before costs; this is why the funding minimum is not a sensible position-sizing rule.

The Cent account can help reduce trade granularity, but check its contract size and tick value. Its schedule uses USC, a .sc suffix and cent lots. A display of 2,000 cents still means $20, not $2,000. Do not carry an EA’s standard-account lot settings into a cent account without checking the unit conversion.

3. Dynamic leverage can change margin while a trade is open

The published FX/gold schedule permits up to 1:2000 at equity of $500 or less, 1:1000 from $500.01 to $2,000 and 1:500 from $2,000.01 to $50,000. The same page says leverage starts at 1:100 and increases require a request. The headline maximum is therefore not a promise that a new account automatically receives it.

Equity includes floating profit or loss. At unchanged $100,000 exposure, margin is $50 at 1:2000, $100 at 1:1000 and $200 at 1:500. Crossing an equity threshold can therefore increase margin demand even when the position size is unchanged. Confirm how the applicable tier is applied to existing positions; leaving only the minimum margin buffer is fragile.

The advertised 100% margin call and 50% close-out are ratios of equity to required margin, not promises to preserve 50% of the original deposit. Closing a position after a gap may be worse than the trigger level. Higher leverage reduces the margin needed for a fixed exposure; it increases loss risk when it encourages a larger exposure.

4. STD or ECN: compare the complete round trip

The account schedule advertises STD spreads from 1.0 pip without commission, ECN from 0.0 with $5 per lot, and PLUS from 1.9 without commission. These are starting quotes, not typical executed costs. The English FAQ limits the stated ECN commission to forex and metals but does not clearly spell out the round-trip basis in that answer.

For one standard lot of EUR/USD in a dollar account, $5 equals approximately 0.5 pip. If $5 covers opening and closing together, ECN needs a spread advantage greater than 0.5 pip to beat STD before other costs. If it is charged on each side, the hurdle becomes 1 pip. A hypothetical 0.2-pip ECN spread would consequently cost 0.7 or 1.2 pips all-in. Establish the actual fee basis before deciding that a “raw” account is cheaper.

For a position held several nights, financing can outweigh that spread difference. Check both long and short swap, the multi-day rollover, and currency conversion. PLUS should justify its wider starting spread with a demonstrable benefit relevant to the strategy; the word “professional” alone is not a reason to pay more.

5. Withdrawal minimums, wallet transfers and approval are different hurdles

The funding page estimates one to three business days for review. The FAQ describes a $20 general deposit/withdrawal minimum, subject to payment-method limits, and no internal funding fee, with intermediary-bank charges and conversion still possible. A low deposit threshold does not establish the minimum for the route you later want to withdraw through.

Its workflow first transfers money from the trading account to the wallet. Principal is then returned to the original source before profits use other available methods. That matters if several deposit channels were used or the original wallet is no longer accessible. Transferring out also reduces trading equity; do not confuse an account balance with money that can be withdrawn without affecting open positions.

  • Pending means review is still taking place.
  • Accept means approval and payment-provider processing—not confirmed arrival in your bank.
  • Reject calls for the specific reason in the remarks, not repeated blind resubmission.

The linked South African agreement’s clause 18.6 contains the inconsistent wording “five (1) Business Days”. It should not be silently rewritten into a firm one-day or five-day promise. Obtain the applicable deadline in writing. For a delay, preserve the request number, status changes, funding receipt and written explanation; ask whether the obstacle is verification, available margin, method limits or payment tracing.

6. Platform support is not blanket permission for every strategy

MT4 and the MT5-based MetaTrade offering are familiar tools, and stock CFDs are listed for MT5 rather than MT4. This is useful workflow continuity, not evidence of execution quality or legal protection. Stock CFDs also do not give the same ownership rights as buying the underlying shares.

There is a more important EA issue. The FAQ says Expert Advisors are supported, while the linked South African Client Agreement, on printed page 21, requires prior written consent for automated systems. If that agreement governs the account, resolve the permission question before activating a robot. Technical compatibility and contractual permission are different things.

Clause 17.3 also gives negative-balance protection subject to exceptions for pricing/platform abuse or breaches of terms. This is not unconditional insurance, nor reimbursement of normal trading losses. Segregation helps distinguish client money from operating funds; it does not by itself guarantee immediate recovery if a firm or banking partner fails.

7. What do customer comments actually tell us?

The customer feedback on Make Capital’s BrokersView profile is mixed. Some January and March 2025 comments praise support and prompt withdrawals. April and July 2026 posts describe extended review and a mismatch between deposit and withdrawal thresholds. These are individual accounts, not adjudicated findings or a representative failure rate.

The useful question is not which star rating wins. It is whether the broker can give a documented answer to the specific withdrawal route and trading restrictions that concern you. A method’s minimum is not, by itself, a reason to send extra money to “unlock” an existing balance. If additional funding is demanded, request the contractual basis and an alternative return route before increasing exposure.

8. Strengths, limitations and our verdict

  • Low entry requirement: $20 access lets a trader limit initial cash commitment, provided the position size is also small enough.
  • Cent-account option: finer trade units can help with controlled sizing after the contract specification is checked.
  • Choice of pricing: spread-only and commission-based accounts allow a meaningful cost comparison once the round-trip fee is clear.
  • Familiar platforms: MT4/MT5 can preserve an existing charting workflow without learning a new interface.
  • Entity clarity needs attention: the international footer and linked agreement name different jurisdictions.
  • Public terms need reconciliation: automation permission and withdrawal timing cannot be settled from promotional wording alone.
  • A tiny balance has little risk capacity: extreme leverage makes a position easier to open, not easier to survive.

Verdict: Make Capital is a conditional option for experienced, self-directed MetaTrader users who can verify their agreement, obtain any strategy permission and document a workable funding route. It is a poor fit for someone seeking a simple, locally protected savings substitute or hoping to turn a $20 balance into a viable standard-lot trading account through leverage. Resolve the entity and contract questions first; only then does comparing the spread make sense.
