Adam Blemings has left IG Group, ending a career at the London-listed broker that spanned almost two decades and included senior leadership of its global trading operations.
Blemings confirmed his departure in a social media post, noting that his time at IG concluded at the end of 2025, just short of the 20-year mark. He described the role as a defining chapter and said he was leaving behind a strong trading and operations team.
He joined IG in 2006, shortly after the company returned to public markets following a management buyout. Starting as a futures dealer, Blemings progressed through a series of trading and leadership roles during a period in which IG expanded its derivatives offering and international footprint.
Over the years, he held senior positions across both trading and regional management. These included Head of Dealing in Australia, Deputy Head of Futures and FX, and later Head of Futures and FX. In 2019, he was appointed Head of Trading, before being promoted to Trading Director in mid-2025.
In his final leadership role, Blemings oversaw IG’s trading and operational functions, working closely with risk, technology, and execution teams. Reflecting on the position, he highlighted the importance of building trust and strong internal alignment, describing leadership as closely tied to the quality of followership within an organisation.
IG has not announced a successor to the Trading Director role, nor disclosed Blemings’ next professional move. He indicated that he plans to take an extended break before considering new opportunities in 2026.
The departure marks the exit of one of IG’s longest-serving senior trading executives, further reshaping the broker’s leadership landscape at the close of the year.
