The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a public alert regarding fraudulent websites, fake internet banking login screens, and phishing emails targeting bank customers.
The warning follows official scam disclosures from The Bank of East Asia, Limited, Shanghai Commercial Bank Limited, Chong Hing Bank Limited, and OCBC Bank (Hong Kong) Limited. The banks have confirmed no affiliation whatsoever with the fraudulent websites and have urged the public to verify any suspicious websites directly with the bank. These institutions have reported the fraudulent activity to the HKMA, which has since added the fraudulent websites to its consumer alert list.

HKMA newly adds four fraudulent website addresses to its Alert List
The HKMA reminds the public that legitimate banks will never send SMS or emails containing embedded hyperlinks directing users to conduct transactions. Nor will they request sensitive information such as login passwords or One-Time Passwords (OTPs) via phone, email, or SMS.
Consumers who may have disclosed personal information or conducted financial transactions in response to these scams are urged to contact the relevant bank immediately. They are also encouraged to report the incident to the Crime Wing Information Centre of the Hong Kong Police Force.
The HKMA continues to monitor and update its alert list to safeguard consumers against emerging threats. In September, the regulator issued a separate warning after receiving reports of fraudulent documents that falsely claimed HKMA authorization for an “artificial intelligence investment application.”
