Deriv Names Rotimi Akinyele CTO to Lead AI Strategy

2 小时前 By Mark

Deriv has appointed Rotimi Akinyele as Chief Technology Officer, promoting its security executive to lead engineering as the online broker expands its use of artificial intelligence. The appointment was announced on October 22, 2026.

From Security Leadership to CTO

Akinyele joined Deriv in July 2024 as Vice President of Security. His responsibilities subsequently expanded to cover security and data, followed by automation across compliance, finance, trading and antifraud functions.

Before joining Deriv, he was a director in Dubai Holding’s Group Information Security Department. He previously headed information security and business continuity at a government authority in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

Engineering and Automation Priorities

As CTO, Akinyele will oversee Deriv’s engineering organisation, with priorities including workflow automation, improvements to its internal AI systems and software development processes that use AI agents.

Deriv has set a target of automating 75% of manual workflows by the end of 2026. This remains a company target rather than a reported achievement.

CEO Rakshit Choudhary said security and controls must underpin the company’s engineering work as AI agents receive greater access and responsibility. Akinyele said his focus would include ensuring those safeguards develop alongside automation.
