CONSOB Launches New Educational Video to Warn of Ponzi Scheme Risks

The Italian National Commission for Companies and the Stock Exchange (CONSOB) has launched a new educational video to help savers recognize and avoid Ponzi schemes. This initiative follows the theatrical production “Watch for Scams!”, introduced in March as part of CONSOB's broader financial education campaign.

CONSOB warns that the Ponzi scheme, the “mother of all financial scams”, continues to claim victims worldwide. While the core pattern remains unchanged, the tactics evolve, now thriving on social media and mobile platforms.

CONSOB's newly released video illustrates the fraudulent paradigm in just a few minutes, warning about the risks and showing how to avoid falling into a Ponzi scheme.

Originally orchestrated by Charles Ponzi, an Italian immigrant to the United States in the early 20th century, the Ponzi scheme led its creator to imprisonment. Today, the Ponzi scheme resurges on social media, luring victims with promises of quick, risk-free returns.

Through the new video, CONSOB aims to strengthen public awareness, urging savers to exercise caution when encountering financial offers, especially those unauthorized and therefore abusive, promising exaggerated gains with zero risk.

The forex industry is also a breeding ground for Ponzi schemes. BrokersView has uncovered multiple cases, with MTFF standing out as a notable example of such fraudulent activities.
