ASIC Adds Scam Entity Impersonating eToro Australia to Alert List

18 hours ago BrokersView

On December 3, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) added a new entry to its Investor Alert List, warning the public about a fraudulent operation impersonating eToro AUS Capital Limited, the licensed Australian arm of global trading platform eToro.

According to ASIC, the entity, also known as CFD Reserve AI and operated via the website guardequity.ai, is an imposter with no connection to eToro AUS Capital Limited. The regulator stressed that the firm’s details were being misused to mislead investors.

The scam also claims addresses in the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Switzerland, suggesting a broad global reach.

guardequity.ai is currently inaccessible and may resurface under a new identity. ASIC warned that fraudulent entities often change names and contact details to evade detection.

ASIC cautioned that such operators may impersonate licensed Australian businesses, authorised representatives, or employees to appear legitimate. The Commission reminded investors that the Investor Alert List is not exhaustive—absence from the list does not guarantee a company’s trustworthiness.

Australian investors are urged to verify licences directly through ASIC’s official registers before engaging with any platform, to avoid counterfeit operators and potential financial loss.
