6iTrade now appears as 6i Group on its BrokersView broker profile. Its $1 STP entry requirement and MetaTrader access are easy to understand. The harder questions concern which company holds the account, which version of the trading conditions applies, and what happens when money is withdrawn or a dispute arises.
Our assessment is cautious: the platform has useful account and software choices, but the minimum deposit is not a convincing reason to select it. Differences between its English and Chinese account pages, charges on dormant accounts and unusually restrictive complaint provisions deserve more weight than a broad claim of dual regulation. The relevant contract must be identified before funding; a group-level licence does not automatically protect every account.
The brand’s regulatory page describes 6iGroup Limited as corporate authorised representative 001318862 of Corner Global AU Pty Ltd, AFSL 236783. That is an authorised-representative arrangement, not an Australian financial services licence issued directly to 6iGroup Limited. It separately publishes Mauritius licence C119023907. The Mauritius FSC public register lists 6i Trade Mauritius Limited under the full-service investment-dealer category excluding underwriting, dated 29 April 2025. That entry does not establish that every international customer contracts with the Mauritius company.
There is a third important name. Section 2.1(h) of the linked customer agreement identifies 6i Group LC Limited, Saint Lucia registration 2025-00892, among the entities behind the brand; section 20.1 specifies Saint Lucia law. Incorporation is not, by itself, a licence to provide retail derivatives. Nor should the public agreement be used to assign every customer to that company.
Match the legal name on the acceptance screen and signed agreement to the applicable regulatory entry, permissions and complaint route. Ask which company owes you the account balance and where a claim against it would be pursued. Until those answers match, neither the Australian representative number nor the Mauritius licence justifies assuming Australian client protections, a compensation scheme or a guaranteed recovery.
Both language versions advertise an STP minimum of $1 and MT4/MT5 access. Beyond that, the specifications diverge. The English account page lists STP, VIP and CENT, with maximum leverage of 1:1000; its VIP minimum is $1,000 and commission is described as floating. The Chinese page lists STP, ECN, CENT and USM, with maximum leverage of 1:500; ECN also starts at $1,000 with floating commission. It labels CENT and USM minimum deposits as $200, whereas the English CENT entry simply displays 200.
Both official account tables show a 100% margin call and 10% stop-out. The BrokersView profile’s STP/ECN fields instead show 30% stop-out and a $5 ECN commission. These differences may reflect product versions or maintenance, but the pages do not establish the reason. It would be misleading to combine the largest leverage, lowest fee and preferred stop-out into a single account offer.
Request a written specification for your residence, contracting entity, account currency and exact server. For CENT or USM, establish the monetary unit and contract size: a balance displayed in smaller units does not automatically mean that every lot represents a smaller market exposure. The server’s symbol specification is more useful than an account label.
The current STP instrument table lists a 100,000-unit EUR/USD contract and a 0.01-lot minimum. That minimum position represents €1,000. At an illustrative EUR/USD rate of 1.10, its notional value is $1,100 and initial margin would be about $2.20 at 1:500, or $1.10 at 1:1000, before spread and any additional margin rules. A $1 deposit therefore need not fund even this minimum trade.
The same 0.01-lot EUR/USD position moves by approximately $0.10 per pip. A 50-pip adverse move means about $5 of market loss before costs, regardless of which leverage option financed it. Higher leverage reduces the opening margin, not the position’s loss per pip.
A 10% stop-out is a liquidation trigger based on equity relative to used margin, not a promise to cap losses at 10% of the deposit. If used margin were $100, that threshold would correspond to roughly $10 equity. Gaps and execution prices can worsen the outcome. The agreement also contemplates amounts still owed after forced closure, so unconditional negative-balance protection should not be assumed.
STP’s advertised $0 commission does not eliminate the spread, overnight financing, conversion or payment costs. The floating VIP/ECN commission is not a usable all-in quote until its amount, currency, lot basis and one-way versus round-trip treatment are specified. No account should be called cheaper solely because it carries an ECN or VIP label.
For a standard EUR/USD lot in a USD account, one pip is approximately $10. Suppose one account has a 1.2-pip spread and no commission, while another has a 0.4-pip spread plus a $7 round-trip commission: the illustrative costs are $12 and $11. These are calculation examples, not measured 6i Group quotes. A $1 difference can disappear through slippage or an extra overnight charge.
The broker publishes reference swap and dividend-adjustment tables, which helps identify charges beyond the headline spread. Use the actual symbol’s long or short swap, rollover calendar and holding period for your calculation; a reference rate is not a guaranteed future rate. Frequent traders should compare same-session execution costs, while multi-day traders should calculate financing over the whole intended holding period.
Section 7.2 of the customer agreement provides for a $10 monthly fee on each inactive USD MT account after three months without trading. Trading on another MT account does not exempt the inactive one. A balance below the fee can be exhausted, while a zero balance is not charged. After 12 consecutive inactive months, the document also specifies a $50 annual fee per inactive USD account. Confirm the billing schedule rather than inventing one combined annual total.
For a $50 idle balance, one $10 charge represents 20% of the money left. Two sufficiently funded inactive accounts can incur $20 in the same charging month even if a third account remains active. This makes the product less attractive for someone who intends to open several small accounts and then leave them unattended. Avoid making unnecessary trades or deposits merely to chase a fee rebate.
Withdrawal section 7.8.7 reserves a 3% handling charge where the withdrawal method differs from the original deposit method. It is not a universal 3% withdrawal fee. If applied to a $1,000 withdrawal, the charge alone would be $30, before bank or currency-conversion costs. Establish in writing how principal and profit will be returned if the original card or wallet cannot accept the full amount.
The agreement allows withdrawals to be delayed or refused for matters including third-party destinations, unverified bank details, outstanding fees and insufficient free margin. Its timing language is not a binding one-hour arrival guarantee. A request being approved, money leaving the broker and funds reaching the bank are different events. Preserve the request reference, amount, destination and written explanation if a payment stalls.
Section 19.1 calls for a written complaint within three business days of the underlying event and purports to waive claims if that deadline is missed. Sections 19.4–19.6 impose broad confidentiality requirements on complaint information; section 19.6 specifies a predetermined monetary penalty of at least $100,000 for unauthorised disclosure or misuse. This is a provision in the contract, not a regulator-imposed fine, proof that it has been enforced, or a charge for every complaint.
The distinction matters. A reader should neither assume the clause is harmless nor conclude that statutory rights disappear automatically. Section 19.7 itself states that statutory rights are not limited. Applicability and enforceability depend on the governing law and circumstances; independent legal advice may be appropriate. Keep original statements and communications, raise discrepancies promptly, and do not mistake a contractual internal-first process for a prohibition on exercising legal rights.
Automated traders have another contractual question. The separate high-risk conditions address unfair-advantage strategies, including latency exploitation and certain arbitrage or cross-broker hedging practices, and reserve rights to invalidate affected transactions and gains. MT4/MT5 compatibility therefore does not establish permission for every strategy. Ask how your method is treated before relying on it; this is not evidence that all EAs are prohibited.
The practical positives are the low STP funding threshold, familiar MT4/MT5 workflow, account choices for different trading formats, and published product and legal documentation. Their value depends on the account actually offered. They do not prove execution quality, reliable withdrawals or stronger legal protection.
The main reservations are unresolved account-specification differences, entity-dependent protection, recurring idle-account charges and restrictive dispute language. The 6i Group profile and feedback section currently has no user reviews; its displayed score must not be presented as a customer satisfaction survey. There is no adequate own-platform review sample from which to infer a recurring withdrawal problem or a clean complaint record.
An experienced trader who can resolve the entity, obtain a complete cost schedule and assess the contract may find the software and account choices usable. For a beginner seeking a simple low-balance account, or anyone expecting straightforward dispute rights and clearly stated protections, the unresolved terms are material reasons to compare alternatives. The decisive question is not whether $1 opens the door, but whether the costs, obligations and exit route remain acceptable after it does.
