Online trading firm Versus Trade has appointed Janis Baltalksnis as its new Regional Director for Thailand and Laos, as the company looks to expand its presence across Southeast Asia.
Based in Bangkok, Baltalksnis will be responsible for building and developing Versus Trade’s operations in the two markets. His role includes shaping the broker’s go-to-market strategy, developing local teams, and overseeing sales, marketing, and operational activity as the firm establishes its footprint in the region.
Baltalksnis joins the company after a short stint at Zeal Group, where he worked as Regional Director for Thailand and Vietnam. In that position he managed the overall business strategy in both markets, with full P&L responsibility, while also leading product development, marketing initiatives, and sales teams.
Prior to that, he spent more than two years at SoftGamings as Head of Sales for Asia. There, Baltalksnis focused on expanding the company’s presence across Asian markets, building regional partnerships and sales teams while promoting its iGaming technology solutions.
Earlier in his career, Baltalksnis held several senior roles at retail broker Markets4you. His positions there included Regional Managing Director for Southeast Asia and Country Manager overseeing Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, and the Philippines. During that time he was responsible for driving regional growth, managing local operations, and strengthening the broker’s market presence across multiple countries.
At Versus Trade, Baltalksnis will now lead the company’s efforts to introduce its trading products to clients in Thailand and Laos, while building partnerships and local infrastructure to support long-term growth in the region. Versus Trade processed $75 billion in trading volume during its first 8 months.
