The Belgian Financial Services and Markets Authority Warns Public About New Fraudulent Trading Platforms
The Belgian Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) has issued a fresh warning about a growing number of fraudulent online trading platforms targeting investors. According to the regulator, these platforms typically promise quick and easy profits through online trading in financial instruments or cryptocurrencies but are in fact sophisticated scams that can result in substantial financial losses.
The FSMA noted that several websites are currently directing consumers to fraudulent trading platforms. These websites often use persuasive marketing, artificial intelligence branding, or misleading investment claims to attract potential victims. Once investors deposit funds, they frequently face difficulties withdrawing their money or lose contact with the operators altogether.
In addition, the Authority strongly advises the public not to respond to offers from a number of trading platforms that have been identified as fraudulent or operating without authorisation. The entities listed below have recently been added to the FSMA’s warning list.
The regulator emphasises that the list is not exhaustive and is regularly updated as new suspicious platforms emerge. Investors are encouraged to verify whether a firm holds the necessary authorisations before investing by consulting the official FSMA resources or contacting the Authority directly.
