A fraudulent investment platform operating under the name “PrimeUPartner” has been identified in a case involving staged account growth, repeated funding cycles, and blocked withdrawals, with verified losses exceeding $77,000.
The victim, a 35-year-old Sydney resident, began engaging with the platform in September after encountering it online. Over the following months, he transferred a total of $77,521 through 18 separate instalments, each guided by an assigned “investment broker” who maintained ongoing contact and provided step-by-step instructions.
The platform interface displayed multi-asset exposure, including cryptocurrency, equities, and gold. By December, the account dashboard showed a balance of approximately $200,000. These figures were not linked to any real trades or market activity. Investigators confirmed the charts, price feeds, and profit calculations were internally generated within the platform environment.
No external brokerage, exchange connectivity, or asset custody mechanism was identified.
The scheme shifted at the withdrawal stage. When the victim attempted to cash out, the platform required additional payments described as transaction and processing fees. These requests were presented as mandatory conditions to release funds. After initial resistance, communication from the assigned broker stopped entirely, and no withdrawals were processed.
Subsequent technical checks revealed that deposited funds were not retained within any trading account. Instead, they were redirected shortly after receipt, consistent with laundering patterns involving immediate fund dispersion.
The case was reported to the NSW Police Force in January and has since been referred to Interpol for further investigation. The PrimeUPartner domain is now inactive, returning certificate verification errors.
According to the National Anti-Scam Centre, investment scams generated $837.7 million in losses in 2025, with cases involving fully fabricated trading platforms accounting for a significant share of high-value incidents.
