SPF and Five Banks Disrupt 800 Scam Attempts

Jul 10, 2025 BrokersView

The Anti-Scam Centre (ASC) of the Singapore Police Force (SPF), working with DBS Bank, UOB, OCBC, Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), and HSBC, has intensified its crackdown on scams by leveraging advanced Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technology.

From 1 May to 30 June 2025, ASC officers and participating banks identified over 3,600 customers at risk of falling prey to scams. In response, more than 4,600 SMS alerts were sent, warning potential victims. These timely interventions helped prevent approximately SGD $36 million in potential losses.

The implementation of RPA resulted in the successful disruption of over 800 scam attempts. The scams intercepted include government official impersonation scams, job scams, investment scams, fake friend call scams, and e-commerce scams.

The SPF urges the public to remain vigilant.
