Spain's Civil Guard Investigates Crypto Investment Scam Tarillium

Dec 16, 2025 BrokersView

The Civil Guard in Spain’s Balearic Islands has opened an investigation into an alleged investment scam linked to Tarillium, a newly promoted online platform that promises high returns through trading assets of major technology companies. The probe began after a complaint was filed in the region.

According to investigators, Tarillium is marketed through fake news-style articles featuring fabricated endorsements from well‑known Spanish business figures. These materials present the platform as a legitimate and secure investment option, creating a false sense of credibility among potential victims.

Once a victim registers on the Tarillium website, they are contacted by individuals posing as financial advisors via Telegram and other messaging apps. Scammers often use video calls and remote‑access tools to guide victims step‑by‑step, ensuring they follow instructions.

Victims are first told to open accounts on one or more cryptocurrency exchanges and to make substantial bank transfers to purchase digital assets. They are then instructed to send these cryptocurrencies to Tarillium to begin “trading.”

In reality, investigators say the funds are immediately diverted to wallets controlled by the fraudsters. The Tarillium interface continues to display the victim’s balance and simulated trades that mirror real market movements, creating the illusion that their money remains intact.

Scammers repeatedly pressure victims through phone calls to make additional deposits. When a victim attempts to withdraw funds, they are told the money will be moved to a second platform. There, a balance appears in the victim’s wallet, but the asset shown is a worthless token mimicking the name and symbol of the original cryptocurrency.

Victims are then targeted again through fake emails demanding payment of supposed taxes or verification fees as a condition for releasing their funds.

The Civil Guard warns the public to be extremely cautious of investment offers promising high returns with minimal risk. Officials advise verifying whether a platform is properly authorised, consulting financial institutions when in doubt, and reporting suspicious activity to the authorities.
