Pepperstone Appoints Andrew Turnbull as Head of Africa

3 hours ago BrokersView

Pepperstone has appointed Andrew Turnbull as Head of Africa, based in Nairobi, as the Australia-based online trading provider strengthens its focus on the African market. Turnbull will lead the broker’s strategy across the continent.

Andrew Turnbull Returns to FX and CFDs

The appointment marks Turnbull’s return to the FX and CFD industry. He spent nearly 20 years in senior UK roles at ODL Securities and FXCM, where he focused on institutional sales and partnerships.

Turnbull left FXCM in 2013 to establish alternative property finance company Wellesley Group Investors. His new role at Pepperstone brings him back to the online trading sector.

Pepperstone Expands Africa Strategy

Pepperstone said it is investing in greater ownership of its technology to gain more control over the trading experience and respond to market-specific client needs.

Pepperstone is licensed by Kenya’s Capital Markets Authority (CMA). The company said Kenya was among the first African countries to establish a formal regulatory framework for online forex trading.

Marc Boever, Head of EMEA at Pepperstone, said Africa comprises different regulatory environments and trader profiles, making local expertise important to the company’s strategy.

Turnbull said trading demand is growing across Africa, while markets differ in their regulatory and trader characteristics. He said he looks forward to working with Pepperstone’s teams and partners to better serve trading communities across the continent.

Pepperstone Accelerates Senior Leadership Expansion

Turnbull’s appointment follows a series of senior leadership changes at Pepperstone in recent months. In August 2026, the broker appointed Nigel Fernandes as Chief Technology Officer, effective October 1, to lead engineering, architecture, security and data as Pepperstone increases investment in proprietary technology and AI-native infrastructure.

The company also strengthened its Middle East leadership team in July, appointing Mohammed Almadhoun as Head of Middle East and Osama Hamdan as Head of Sales. The appointments came alongside Pepperstone’s expansion in the UAE and were aimed at strengthening its regional operations, business development and strategic partnerships.

Taken together, the appointments point to a broader leadership strategy focused on regional expansion, technology investment and local market expertise. Turnbull’s Africa role therefore adds another regional leadership layer as Pepperstone continues to build its presence across key emerging trading markets.
