The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has issued new warnings regarding a series of unauthorised online trading platforms and mobile applications targeting investors. These entities are not licensed to provide investment services in Hong Kong and may pose significant financial risks. Some falsely claim links to licensed intermediaries, display counterfeit regulatory credentials, or request sensitive personal and banking information from users. Investors are strongly advised to verify any company or individual against the SFC’s public register before engaging in financial transactions.
The SFC emphasizes that unsolicited investment offers, online platforms, or mobile apps claiming regulatory approval but absent from its official register should be treated as fraudulent. Suspicious activity should be reported immediately. Investors should never provide passwords, personal identification, or transfer funds to unlicensed operators.
BrokersView urged the public to verify investment information through official sources, remain cautious of unsolicited recommendations, and report suspicious activity or the Police’s Anti-Deception Coordination Centre.
