Ghana’s central bank and securities regulator have warned the public about the Daily Wealth Guide crypto scam. A doctored video falsely appears to show President John Dramani Mahama promoting the platform. The case matters because scammers are using a fake presidential endorsement to make a crypto investment offer look trustworthy.
The warning was issued on September 1, 2026, after the video spread on social media. The platform was promoted as a way to earn high returns from crypto investments.
According to the regulators, the video was changed to make President John Dramani Mahama appear to endorse Daily Wealth Guide.
The Bank of Ghana and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) warned the public against putting money into the scheme. They said the offers involve taking deposits, meaning collecting money from the public for investment purposes.
Under Ghana’s Banks and Specialized Deposit-Taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930), only a company licensed by the Bank of Ghana can legally take deposits.
The Bank of Ghana also said it has not licensed any individual or company to engage in crypto investment. Those involved may face legal action and may be required to return the money they received.
The Bank of Ghana and SEC urged people not to deposit money with Daily Wealth Guide or similar platforms before checking whether they are properly licensed.
The regulators also warned media organizations not to advertise these investment offers without first checking the licensing status of the companies involved.
The notice says people or companies involved in the prohibited activities may face penalties under the Anti-Money Laundering Act 2020 (Act 1044). They may also be referred to law enforcement agencies for investigation and prosecution.
